Olde Charles Towne

The “Old Charles Towne” living history village at Charleston Harbor Fest will be both an entertaining look at the past and an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge. With representations starting in the 1680's Charleston's history and maritime culture will be on display. Visitors will get an inside look on what it took for day to day living as well as the tools of navigation and war.

Over 300 years of Charleston's rich history will be on display for both adults and children, expect to see colonists, pirates, and Revolutionary War soldiers; fire making, cooking, sewing, sword fights, flintlock demonstrations and the firing of various types of canon. There is also a children's pirate parade each day at 11:00am. Put on your best pirate garb and meet at the Flagpole in front of the Charleston Maritime Center. The pirates will lead the way back to their camp for some pirate loot for all. The Olde Charleston Towne camp will parade from the Charleston Maritime Center down to the Passenger Terminal and back on Friday morning at 10:00am to kick off the weekend.

Immerse yourself in the time machine that is living history at Charleston's Harbor Fest.

Roaming Pirates
In addition to the pirates camped in Olde Charles Towne, several pirates will roam the festival grounds and perform impromptu sword fights and interactive storytelling.
